SCHOOL SAFETY
At Western School Corporation, the safety of our students, staff, and community is a top priority. We work closely with city, county, state, and national safety officials to implement best practices and proven resources in school security, intervention, deterrence, and emergency preparedness. Each of our schools has an Indiana School Safety Specialist trained to lead the development and implementation of effective safety procedures. In addition, every building is staffed with a full-time School Resource Officer (SRO). To further protect our students, we use the Raptor visitor management system, which screens every visitor’s state-issued identification against the national sex offender registry. Each year, Western staff also receive federally endorsed ALICE (Alert, Lockdown, Inform, Counter, Evacuate) training to ensure readiness in emergency situations. By fostering a secure environment, we create the foundation that allows Western students to focus on learning and thrive academically.
