Resources

  • Community Use

    Residents of our school district are welcome to use the Western Fieldhouse Monday-Thursday from 5-9 p.m. Please follow the guidelines below:

    • The weight room is not open for community use.
    • The use of the track and multipurpose area is free to all Western residents.
    • Dressing room and shower facilities are not provided
    • No pop, sports drinks or food. Water bottles only.
    • Proper dress includes sweats or athletic shorts, t-shirts, tennis shoes (no spikes), and other work-out attire.
    • Abuse of equipment or not following the rules will result in the loss of privileges to use the facility.

     

    Student Use

    • Students in the multi-purpose facility and/or weight room must be supervised by their respective coaches or weight room coordinator.
    • Students are not to bring students from other schools or guests to use the facility.
    • Students are to be dressed in proper attire (shorts, t-shirts, tennis shoes without spikes).
    • Students will not abuse equipment in any way. Infractions will result in suspended use of the facility for a time to be determined by the administration.
    • This is a work-out area. Abuse of equipment could result in injury. Students causing a disturbance will be asked to leave.
    • Weight Room: Students are not to lift alone. When using free weights you must have a spotter. Replace weights on racks and do not leave weights on bars.
    • The treadmills, bicycles, elliptical trainers, and climbers are not to be used by students until they have received proper instruction and are under the supervision of the weight room coordinator or supervisor.
    • No pop, sports drinks, or food is allowed in the multi-purpose facility and/or weight room at any time. Water bottles only.

    School-affiliated groups are defined as activities that are directly connected to the Western School Corporation. Examples of Category 1 groups include:

    1. PTO (Parent-Teacher Organization) activities
    2. Activities of extracurricular clubs and organizations recognized by the Master Contract
    3. Curricular activities that take place outside of regular school hours
    4. Room use during the school day for school-related events

    Fees
    There are no facility usage fees for Category 1 activities. However, personnel fees may apply if custodial or technical assistance is needed, or if the event involves significant setup, extended use, cleanup, or special services (such as security) related to large or complex events.

    School-Community groups are defined as those offering educational, recreational, or cultural activities that are administered by the School Board—either independently or in partnership with others. These groups are given second priority for access to available facilities.

    Examples of Category 2 groups include:

    1. Boy Scout Troop sponsored by Western
    2.  Sports clinics and camps organized by school employees
    3. Staff recreation programs

    Note: An athletic or cheerleading clinic where participants pay fees directly to the school employee sponsor(s) is also considered a Category 2 activity.

    Fees:
    Category 2 groups will be charged the same facility rates as Category 1.

  • CREATE AN MLSCHEDULES ACCOUNT

    Category 3 includes community nonprofit organizations (not individual teams) that meet the following criteria:

    • Are governmental agencies or groups made up of at least 80% Western School Corporation residents
    • Provide civic, educational, or cultural programs
    • Are staffed by volunteers

    These groups will be granted third priority for use of school space and facilities.

    Examples of Category 3 activities include:

    1. Scout groups not sponsored by the school
    2. P.A.L., YMCA, YWCA
    3. Youth baseball, football, soccer, and softball leagues

    Note: Youth baseball, football, softball, and soccer programs are not permitted to use indoor facilities, except for one-day tryouts.

    Fees

    • Category 3 groups will be charged the same rates as Category 1,
    • Except for use of the auditorium, which will require a nominal usage fee.

    Insurance Requirement
    A $1,000,000 certificate of liability insurance is required for Category 3 groups, unless this requirement is waived by the Superintendent or their designee.

  • CREATE AN MLSCHEDULES ACCOUNT

    Category 4 includes private, nonprofit organizations (not individual teams) that:

    • Consist of less than 80% Western School Corporation residents
    • Request occasional, one-time, or regularly scheduled use of facilities
    • Offer activities with educational, cultural, religious, or charitable purposes

    These groups will be given fourth priority for use of school facilities.

    Limitations

    • Extraordinary activities will not be approved. This includes events requiring extensive setup/cleanup or the use of special facilities such as:
      • Varsity athletic fields
      • Computer labs
      • Music rooms

    Fees

    • Charges will follow the rates outlined in the Administrative Guidelines.
    • If the activity involves ticket sales or admission fees, an additional fee or percentage will be applied based on the relationship between ticket price and event costs.

    Insurance Requirement
    A $1,000,000 certificate of liability insurance is required, unless waived by the Superintendent or their designee.

  • CREATE AN MLSCHEDULES ACCOUNT

    Category 5 includes private, for-profit businesses, vendors, or entrepreneurs. Use of school facilities by these groups is strongly discouraged, but may be approved on a limited basis. If approved, these users will be assigned the lowest (fifth) priority for space and facility access.

    Examples of Category 5 activities include:

    1. Individuals or small groups seeking to use school space for retail sales or commercial purposes
    2. Individuals or small groups wishing to use facilities for recreational activities that are not connected to the school or any recognized nonprofit organization

    Restrictions

    • Extraordinary activities will not be approved. This includes events with extensive setup/cleanup or use of specialized areas such as:
      • Varsity athletic fields
      • Computer labs
      • Music rooms
    • Individual (non-Western) teams are not permitted to host tournaments on school property.

    Fees

    • Rates will follow those outlined in the Administrative Guidelines
    • If the event includes ticket sales or admission fees, an additional fee or percentage will be charged based on the relationship between the admission price and actual costs

    Insurance Requirement
    A $1,000,000 certificate of liability insurance is required for all Category 5 users, unless waived by the Superintendent or their designee.

  • Western School Corporation offers a spacious Large Group Conference/Banquet Room available for residents to rent. Perfect for meetings, parties, or special events!

    Availability

    • Monday–Friday: 4:00 PM – 10:00 PM
    • Saturday & Sunday: 7:00 AM – 10:00 PM

    Rental Rates

    • $75 for the first hour
    • $130 for two hours
    • $65/hour for each additional hour
    • Additional charges may apply (e.g., custodian fees)
